Rosh Hashanah 2014 with Thane Maynard

Over 100 people warmly welcomed Thane Maynard and friends to Congregation Beth Adam on Thursday, September 25 to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.  Smiles filled the room to celebrate the New Year in our very special sanctuary that represents our commitment to a sustainable future.

Thane stood under our newly solar-powered eternal light as he explained that even though humans have had a great negative impact on the earth, humans can also effect positive change to help heal the environment.

Anyone for a little Bocce?  This sweet little guy warmed up to the crowd as Sarah Navarro of the Cincinnati Zoo walked him around the crowd. 

 

Did you know the barred owl lives both in Cincinnati and in Israel, as well as in many other countries around the world?  Sarah and Thane brought Casper to visit.  Maybe Casper could become our mascot for Our Jewish Community to represent our worldwide community!

Tether the ball python also visited for Rosh Hashanah.

 

On Rosh Hashanah, we are asked to reflect on our interaction with other people – and our place within the world.  The theme of the “Nature of Hope” was a perfect source of inspiration as we thought about our responsibilities in taking care of our planet.
